Known also as Curramba the Beautiful one, Golden door or Sandy, the capital of the department of the Atlantico, the located to the north of the country on the Caribbean coast on the western bank of the river Magdalena, where one sees his river mouth in the Caribbean sea; it is an air, maritime, fluvial port and of communications, turning into one of the principal cities of commercial exchange of the country. Barranquilla is a city that is characterized by his beautiful natural and architectural landscapes, between(among) them we find to Mouths of Ash and Port Colombia with his historical wharf and his beaches. Places of special attraction like the Old Meadow, the former Building of the Customs, the Theatre Amira of the Rose, the Romantic Museum, the Museum of Barranquilla Modern Art, the Zoo and the neighboring populations where in the course of the year diverse festivals are celebrated, it is a city full of happiness and festivities. The most recognized party all over the world celebrated in this warm city is Barranquilla Carnival, declared Patrimony of the Humanity for the Organization of United Nations for the Education, the Science and the Culture (UNESCO), which is carried out the second week of February of every year, four days full of color, culture, music, dance and rumba, is the most important popular party of the Colombian Caribbean, a festivity that it is necessary to enjoy at least once in the life.
